This is Brian Hall's first State of the Mesh in a year or two, in which
time this community owned network has grown by leaps and bounds. One of the
matters discussed is that, since community owned infrastructure is not
technically an ISP, it might qualify under the federal Affordable
Connectivity program. This is followed by a glimpse of the latest NYC Mesh
dev projects from Zach Giles.

In part two, Ryan Polk, Director of Internet Policy at the Internet
Society, talks about why encryption matters in the face of proposed
legislation such as the EARNIT or STOP CSAM Acts, which, while in the
laudable aim of protecting children, will nevertheless compromise
everyone's safety, and the actual mechanics of the Internet itself.
