In relative terms, this means that the global Internet user gap is 17 per cent. In developing countries, the digital gender divide is wider and growing faster, partly due to sociocultural issues such as gender stereotypes, and family and community views on access to, and use of, technology by women and girls. This meeting, under the umbrella of the <strong><a style="color:rgb(37,133,178)" href="http://www.equals.org/" target="_blank">EQUALS Global Partnership</a></strong>, brought together proponents of a <strong><a style="color:rgb(37,133,178)" href="http://www.equals.org/actionmap" target="_blank">number of remedial initiatives</a></strong>.</p>
